At the end of August 2014, as part of the HPRS European project, the prototype line for the application of an innovative High Pressure Resination System was installed and put into operation at the XILOPAN panel production facility located in Cigognola, (Italy) in conjunction with COLOMER and XILOPAN itself, after approximately 12 months of engineering and testing conducted at various facilities to determine the operating parameters. The target of such an installation is to attain a significant reduction in resin consumption as well as to diminish electrical energy requirements per cubic metre of the manufactured product.
A well-timed production shut down for maintenance operations and the planning of all the various activities required to get the XILOPAN production line back up and running by 1st September, ensured that installation and start-up operations were conducted smoothly.
Activities commenced in October to verify consumptions, fine tune the process parameters [software] with subsequent mechanical adjustments to optimize performance.
The initial figures received confirm that resin requirements have been reduced by approximately 15%, figures which will need to be substantiated by further testing and then validated by the end of January.
The project is in line with the planned schedule.
